Splendid Venice - Starhotels Collezione
14.09.2018 - 30.09.2018
During the important exhibition-event Homo Faber: Crafting a More Human Future, promoted in Venice by the Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship, from September 14th to 30th, the elegant rooms of Splendid Venice - Starhotels Collezione, a sophisticated hotel overlooking the canals and Mercerie, historic alleys linking piazza San Marco and Rialto, was the stunning venue for hosting a curated selection of pieces made by important names in Venetian craftsmanship.
The exhibition was specifically designed and staged with the consultation and support of the Cologni Foundation for the Métiers d’Art, a partner of Homo Faber. The exposition led guests on a journey through stunning engraved black figures, extraordinary masks and glass chalices made according to pure Venetian tradition, bespoke silk-screen prints and priceless bronze and brass sculptures, magnificent velvets, fabulous theatre costumes and delicate laces.
The hotel transformed into an enchanting gallery for the occasion opened to guests and the public, offering space to the immense creativity and mastery of eight top-notch Italian artisans: Bruno Barbon (wood engravings), Sergio Boldrin (La Bottega dei Mascareri), Gianpaolo Fallani (prints), Carlo Semenzato (Fonderia d’Arte Valese), Emanuele Bevilacqua (Tessitura Luigi Bevilacqua), Stefano Nicolao (theatre costumes), Lucia Costantini (Burano lace) and Andrea Zilio (vetreria Anfora).
