As part of the patronage project La Grande Bellezza – The Dream Factory, promoted by Starhotels and its Partners, Starhotels has invited Elica Studio to present a special exhibition entitled “L’Italia nel cuore” on the occasion of Artigianato e Palazzo 2025. The exhibition is dedicated to the highy symbolic and iconic theme of the heart.
It will feature a selection of 40 hearts from the extraordinary collection “In alto i cuori” by Elica Studio, which, once completed, will include 90 variations—one for each number in the Neapolitan Smorfia.
The hearts are special porcelain ex-votos: small sculptures handmade and decorated with graphic and sculptural motifs, letters, numbers, and painted figures. Each heart can become a vessel for flowers, ideas, and messages—a contemporary and universal way to communicate. Every heart has its own rhythm, its own beat, and its own meaning, playing with irony and joy, making each piece truly unique.
Elica Studio was founded in 1995 by Elisabetta Bovina and Carlo Pastore, two of the most important and talented Italian ceramic masters, internationally renowned for their refined and imaginative eclecticism. Among many recognitions and awards, they received the MAM – Maestro d’Arte e Mestiere Prize in 2022, dedicated to the great creators of Italian craftsmanship.
Starhotels participates for the first time to the 89th International Exhibition of Crafts (MIDA), which for almost a century celebrates in Florence craftsmanship excellence, welcoming guests and curious people from all over the world.
