As part of La Grande Bellezza – The Dream Factory, a project promoted by Starhotels together with its partners, Gruppo Editoriale and Fondazione Cologni, Starhotels has invited Antonietta Mazzotti Emaldi to present the exhibition “Natura Aurea” on the occasion of Artigianato e Palazzo 2026.
The exhibition brings together a selection of 33 works from the Menadi, Faience Garden – Garofano, Proserpina and Survival collections: four distinct bodies of work united by a shared exploration of matter and its ability to endure through time and transform into form, symbol and memory.
In Antonietta Mazzotti Emaldi’s work, nature is not simply represented, but reinterpreted and transformed by the artist’s hand. The bodies and drapery of the Menadi become suspended movement; the carnation, a motif rooted in the Faenza ceramic tradition, is translated into relief and three-dimensional form; Proserpina’s pomegranate evokes the cycle of darkness, rebirth and fertility; while the bark of ancient trees in Survival becomes a material trace of resilience, continuity and memory.
The white of the ceramic unifies the entire exhibition, while touches of pure gold move across the surfaces like a luminous presence, accentuating forms, reliefs and details. Gold thus becomes the exhibition’s visual and symbolic leitmotif: a light accompanying the transition from nature to artistic form, from matter to narrative.
A ceramic artist active since 1972, Antonietta Mazzotti Emaldi has developed a practice deeply rooted in the botanical world, the tradition of Faenza maiolica and the evocative power of myth. Through an approach grounded in a profound knowledge of materials and ongoing experimentation with form, the artist — who today embodies the role of the artisan-artist in exemplary fashion — creates works in which memory, gesture and transformation enter into dialogue with a contemporary sensibility.
